Appearance is modest with a smallish, off-white, fading head, no lace, and a slightly hazy amber color. Aroma is interesting - malt, yeast, oak, umami, grapes. Flavor's heavily influenced by the chardonnay barrels, to the point where the beer momentarily had me thinking I was drinking a carbonated chardonnay. Great palate. Beer is an interesting experiment; odd duck that turned out decent, but not great.

Pours a yellow...kind of looks like a Chardonnay, lol. Head and lacing are there but head dies down a bit without too much effort. Still looks kind of sticky. As Barney mentioned, after 10-15 minutes the head falls away to nothing. And you will definitely be sipping on it for longer than that. It's big.
Nose has those oaky loon notes up front, lots of oak and really just huge Chardonnay presence. Some hops here too hiding behind the oak, but I am getting some distinct rockmelon and some definite passionfruit.
Taste is more flowery Chardonnay- big oak. Get some pineapple later.
Definitely holds the mouthfeel of a beer- thick and palate-coating, allowing all that oak to seep in everywhere.
Overall I like this. It's a huge beer for the ABV, one could argue it has even more presence than a high alcohol Chardonnay because of its body.
I think the issue with this one is that it's really barrel-dominated. To the extent that it takes up the majority of the beer. Still a very interesting and unique escapade.

Briefly - looks 100% pale straw and the head just fizzes and dies to clear. Aromas and taste are a cross between saison, gueuze, and over aged semillon. Well undercarbonated now. The barrel does not really add too much, at least to this palate. Complex, yes, but overall tastes like old beer rather than aged beer.
