Big bold imperial red with a nice blend of roasty and hoppy flavors. This one is much more on the roasted flavor side than most hopped up reds from my experience and thats really fine. Great expression of the style and i would recommend trying this if you can find at a decent price. My $10 bomber was not worth grabbing compared to better reds out there. That said good effort from a brewer i would like to try more of ... If they can price something competitively.

Poured from a bomber into a large stem wine glass.
A: This is a gorgeous beer in the glass. Rich copper red color with a three finger off-white head. The head is thick and creamy. A lot of tiny bubbles streaming up from the bottom of the glass. The beer is very clear and pristine. A nice lacing follows its way down the glass.
S: A bit of bitter grapefruit, hints of pine and citrus, not much malt on the nose.
T: A nice up front hop smash that mellows out with a malty breadiness and some bitter citrus notes. Very enjoyable.
MF: Clean and crisp, while also very creamy and rich. This is making my mouth pretty happy.
O: I have read and heard a lot about the astringency of this beer, but I didn't really get that. Perhaps thats because it has been sitting since April and the bitterness has mellowed down a bit. Having previously drank a bottle of STA's Gorillanaut Imp. IPA, I have to say I enjoyed this one a lot more. Definitely my favorite hoppy offering from STA.
