A: Pours a clear copper in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate amber + burnt orange highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a medium sized half finger thick ring in the center of the glass surrounded by a large patch of very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of biscuit + caramel malts with a moderate aroma of citrus/grapefruit + herbal hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of biscuit + caramel malts with a light to moderate amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit + herbal which contribute a moderate amount of aggressive bitterness which lingers through the finish.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin/watery with a hint of dryness in the finish.
O: Not a bad beer but this is a little bit of an old school/throwback style of IPA (maltier and more aggressive bitterness without as much hop flavors). Easy to drink but just not exciting enough for me to want to go out and have another of these.

Poured from 12 oz can dated 8/25/2016.
A: Golden brown with 1-2 finger head. Moderate retention and lacing.
S: Very light aromas consisting mainly of biscuit malts.
T: Burnt toast and earthy hops and a fairly bitter aftertaste.
M: Medium body with average carbonation.
O: I have to admit being intrigued about this beer since it was a custom brew for the local Whole Foods chain, but it is certainly my least favorite IPA from STA.
