Good color of true gold with moderate white cap and lacing.
On the scent I get caramel malt, some lighter spicy/floral hops with a hint of pine and yes, vanilla. Not sweet vanilla, rather a savory one.
Taste is heavy vanilla though. Not to the exclusion of everything else but as any pastry chef knows vanilla can be a powerful presence if used with a heavy hand. Vanilla taste on a sweet malt base from entry through mid palate and on to the finish then lingering in the aftertaste.
Texture is medium with balancing carbonation.
The vanilla flavor in this brew is good yet I suggest misplaced. Darned if I can figure why they used an ale base here (unless the name Cream Ale was a goal) because I think these flavors would've worked better in a wheat brew. Almost pastry like in it's vanillaness without the redeeming qualities of a toothsome pastry crust. My taste buds are scattered like a bunch of lackadaisical soldiers who've been unattended too long. Think I'll go crack open a Stone Ruination and get them back in formation.

12 oz can served in a lager glass.
A bit darker than usual for style, with plenty of visible carbonation rising to a semi-durable white head.
More hops in the aroma and more sweet malt flavor than expected.
Overall: like a slightly hoppy cream ale mixed with a marzen.
