Poured from 32oz crowler obtained at the brewery.
A: Copper tinged brown with 2 finger off white head. Lasting retention and moderate to heavy lacing.
S: Rich piney hops, raisins, and caramel.
T: Big bold hop punch indicative of American style barley wine. Subtle sweetness with raisins, dates, and caramel and hints of spices like pink peppercorn.
M: Medium body with above average carbonation for the style. Finish has fair amount of bitterness.
O: Nicely done. It’s been a good while since STA has done a barley wine and it looks like they need to do another soon and perhaps barrel age it.
