12 oz can, canned on 1/17/20, purchased at 3 days old and getting around to it now. Bought at Hop City in Birmingham. Poured into Rogue Spiegelau glass.
Has a textbook double IPA color with honey and caramel tint, and a tall destructive creamy head of 3 fingers, destroying the glass with lace as it recedes. Textbook IIPA.
Aroma is what I can only call, "mango bubble gum". Very mango, very bubble gum. Sharp jackfruit as well. Some slight pineapple, slight Ramen before it's flavored. But mostly heavy sharp citric mango, and mango flavored gum.
Flavor is palate-busting, caramel-heavy, resinous and piney, old school double IPA -- but with sharp and bright mango fruit added. Infused is probably the right word. It is in every centimeter of this beer's flavor profile. It is a sipper. It scrubs the tongue. Call me crazy but I'm getting a little strawberry too. A finish of mango and grass, both to the Nth degree. Would seem my tongue has a grass stain. And that perhaps it's yellow too, from the mango explosion.
Feel is resinous, numbing, very alive and popping with carbonation, and has a stiff alcohol presence that rivals barleywines. Numbing, palate-busting finish.
Overall, an intense beer that needs some serious sip time. Based on the flavors and overall profile, I'll say this is best consumed within 8 weeks of canning. Thing is, it would probably kill as a barleywine too. It has the alcohol to go the distance. I almost want to age some.
