At River House.
A: The ESB is appropriately a toffee brown color, darker but not opaque. A thin whitish head comes along with the pour.
S: The nose has plenty of malts, a plethora of grains, that are fuller with toffee and nuts. Hops are earthy and subordinate.
T: Maltiness is the word of the day, with toffee, nuts and caramel all lending to the smoothness. Hops, earthy, aren't all that bitter (I know, I know), taking a backseat to the malts. A little too strong to be sessionable.
M: The maltiness leads to a sweeter, fuller mouthfeel that emphasizes the intricacies of the grains.
