Pours golden, opulent white head with thick but soapy bubbles. Really nice carbonation to this. White grape on the nose. Get some of that white grape reisling character up front that gives way to more a well baked saltine cracker. A pretty great beer.

On draught.
A golden pour with a decent head and clarity, the lacing is sparse.
Toasted malt, a little grassy, lemon/citrus, enjoyable bitterness, nicely carbonated, and a dry finish.

Murky golden body, whitehead with sporadic, thick lacing. Lemon, orange, grass, flowers, fresh baked white bread, mild pale grain, hint of black pepper and a lush punch of bread crust in both smell and taste. Feel has great textures from the hops and more so the yeast, pale and full with a hint of sharpness and softness. The wife loved it

Four pack to-go at their Brighton spot after a few proper lager pours on a Thursday night. Can dated 12/14/23 so super fresh…”#lagerislife”. They don’t seem to make a beer that isn’t exceptional. Likely tough to find a better Zwickel made in the US. Unfiltered German lager deliciousness. Rich, creamy, fruity, grainy, barny, a bit funky, yeast is just awesome. Such a great style and they’ve really nailed it.

Canned 6/1/22. Best by 10/22
Finally, I’ve found a liquor store that gets Notch’s smaller releases. That being said, it’s about 2 hours from home, and I only stopped in there (Cooper’s Corner) because I was in the area. Let’s see what their Zwickel is all about
Pours a cloudy orange gold with 2 fingers of creamy off white head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
This is nicely floral and spicy in the nose. I’m picking up on aromas of sweet honey, floral hops, toasted grain, orange rind, lemon zest, and black pepper
It’s similar in taste, the spice cuts through and really cleans it up. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting bready malt, white pepper, wildflower honey, toasted grain, toffee, herbal hops, and orange zest. The swallow brings notes of crackery malt, sweet honey, floral hops, black pepper, orange zest, and light biscuit
A light medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a crisp and clean beer. Finishes neutral with a nice spice
Surprisingly absolutely nobody, Notch makes a damn good Zwickel. Super drinkable

Pours slightly hazy, gold in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is bready malt, white sugar and grain. Light bodied, slightly sweet, with moderate carbonation. Another excellent lager from Notch. Clean, malty, and super easy to drink.

16 oz can poured into a pint glass
A- A fairly clear golden straw with a two finger white head.
S- Sweet bread, biscuits, touch of pilsner malts, floral, some earthy spice.
T- Sweet bread, touch of toast, biscuits, citrus, floral, some earthy spice, floral.
M- Smooth, light body.
O- A well balance and easy to drink lager, the citrus in the taste is just enough to bring a nice balance to the beer without being the focus.

L: Pours a straw to pale gold color with good clarity. A gentle pour yields 2 fingers of fine, white head with excellent retention. As the beer goes down it leaves a heavy ringed and webbed lacing. This looks more like a standard helles than a zwickel or kellerbier.
S: bready malt, biscuity malt, light notes of grass, light notes of citrus, and a hint of yeasty spice.
T: Follows the nose pretty closely. This one is malt forward with the hops playing more of a supporting role. I get bready malt character, a touch of grainy sweetness, lemon, a touch of spice, and light notes of grass and hay.
F: Nice light body with medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is nice and smooth with a slight dryness on the finish.
O: This is a great session lager, but it doesn't really fit the bill as a zwickel or kellerbier so while it loses a few points for that it does get points for being a tasty and highly drinkable session lager. Recommended!
