Wow! Loved this beer. Tried it side by side vs the NE IPA in the Salem taproom. Both were excellent, but Hang the DJ had something more. I would have taken a quart home if they let me (alas, DIPA was not being distributed this way.)
I am a huge fan of hazy citrusy IPAs and this more than holds its own among the NE elite. Well done Notch.

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Kappy's in Norwell for about fourteen dollars. Have had a few brews from these guys before. Very nice brew, would get again.

Can. Before I start. The fact that a brewery pigeonholes themselves into only making "session" beers then decides that making a side project for "full strength beers" is something. I don't know if I personally find that annoying or if it is just pretentious. Either way, I paid like $5 for this can of beer so the egg ultimately runs down my skull. Hang the DJ pours properly for the style. Dull, very hazy. It doesn't dip it's toe in the fully opaque or muddy visual spectrum. Very slight head. The smell is apt, too, Concentrated, perfumey, sweet hops. Wet citrus and a little creaminess. New England style aroma. Maybe just a tickle of green onion. Flavor is the biggest shortcoming. It is decent but it finishes a little wonky. It sorta dries out and tries to be crisp but the transition from soggy hop fruit is not successful. The final flavor that lingers on the tongue is suspect. Overall, I was judgmental of their overall idea behind making this beer. Or I should say I was annoyed by the fact that they need to justify making a beer that isn't a session beer. Then I was impressed by almost every element of the liquid. However, the flavor wasn't awesome. Stick to sessions?
