Lacks much of the depth of flavor that I get from some imported doppelbocks like Celebrator or Aventinus. Almost drinks like a session version of as doppelbock yet it's still 7%, so it leaves you wanting more. Nothing clearly wrong with it, just not good enough to warrant purchasing again.

Pours a clear medium Amber-brown in color with a finger of dense, long lasting off white head. Aroma is richly malty, with some malliard and subtler dark fruit notes. Taste hits the same notes as the aroma but with much greater intensity, it’s super malty with intense malliard notes; some subtler caramel, toasty, and dark fruits are in there as well. Finish is sweet but not overwhelmingly so. Alcohol is well hidden and smooth. Medium-full body with moderate carbonation. A tasty, sweet doppelbock with a heavy emphasis on the malliard notes.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a beer Stein.

Pours a hazy deep copper color with a half finger of off-white head. The head leaves minimal lacing as it settles into a very thin ring.

The aroma brings notes of wheat toast, caramel, plums and brown sugar. There's also some notes of fig and black cherries on the back end.

The flavor is a barrage of dark fruits; plum, fig and black cherries. There's a hint of cola before a strong backbone of toasted bread and caramel sweetness. There's some subtle earthiness before a subtle hop finish.

The feel is full bodied with solid carbonation. Thiccc, smooth and syrupy, as well as a tad sticky. The flavors just cover the mouth like a blanket.

Overall, this is a great German Bock that's unbelievably sweet, yet far from cloying. There's some tart flavors and toasted maltiness to round everything out. This is a heavy beer, but solidly drinkable at just 7%. Well done.

Poured from a 16 oz can purchased at the brewery, into the big test glass.
A - Dark copper/mahogany backdrop, excellent clarity. Carbonation is determined, providing a beautiful white cap. Lacing through the experience is in script.
S - Caramel, a it of brown sugar, dark toast, earthy hops
T - Follows the aromatic lead quite well, a touch of pumpernickel and the faintest hint of beech wood malt.
M - Smooth on the palate, sweet and rich flavors, coat the palate, linger is semi sweet.
O - A true delight, malt rich and quite delightful
