For a Decade of Session Beer! Our 10 year anniversary beer canned in Salem, MA. Desítka is Czech for “tenner” and the most widely consumed beer in the Czech Republic.
Desítka, a Czech Pale Lager at 4.2% ABV (10P), uses floor malted Czech barely and Sladek hops from Žatec.
Process wise, this beer is as traditional as it gets in the Czech Republic; triple decoction, open fermentation, natural carbonation and lagered forever. It’s these extra steps that make a 4.2% pils something special enough for a 10 year anniversary beer.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 12/15/20 into the Pilsner glass.
A - Light Goldenrod color, superb clarity, carnonation is determined and relentless. The white froth cap if allowed can tower well beyond the glasses limit.
S - Biscuit, lovely malt expression, a kiss of honey, floral hops, sweet and earthy.
T - Again with the cracker dabbed in honey, the slightest hint of lemongrass, with a modest spicy note, hint of white pepper.
M - Medium in body, well above what a 4% offering usually feels like. Semi sweet start, then the carbonation acts as rails, keeping the ever so slight bitter in its lane. The water seems appropriately soft with a bit of minerality.
O - A very good Lager, with any flaw impossible to hide. The flavors , aromatics and feel are all superbly expressed.
Lovely biscuit flavor, the aromatics with the honey, lemongrass, are by themselves a simple joy.

Roughly 1.5 months old.
L: clear copper, fluffy head with retention.
S: Light bread. Fresh field.
T: Surprisingly more bitter than smell would suggest. Grassy herbal bitterness. Crisp. Semi-sweet French bread intermingled.
F: appropriate to style.
Overall: a very nice low abv lager.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Notch Brewing, Salem, MA
Born on 04/14/20
Served in a Willi Becher
Crystal clear, deep golden yellow appearance. Just a hint of sediment sneaked into the glass at the end of the pour. The liquid was topped by a frothy, finger-tall, bone white head that dropped to a medium sized collar. A singular ring of drippy lacing trickled down the glass.
Very solid aroma. Really malt and robust for the style. Big bready, biscuity malt presence. There was a nice honey-like sweetness too. Slightly buttery. Rich and rounded overall.
The flavor profile was very similar to the nose. Malty up front. Doughy and bready malts were apparent. Somewhat biscuity too. Touch of honey-like sweetness. Slightly lemony on the back end. Some spicy, peppery, bitter hop notes appeared after the swallow.
The mouthfeel was soft and subtle. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained a fine, subdued effervescence that fluffed up nicely on the palate.
Desítka is a very solid tenth anniversary offering by Notch. While I may not totally understand why this beer gets such amazing reviews, I definitely enjoyed it.

Pale gold with some straw tones, crystal clear, pours with a medium size white head
Profoundly delicate and mild, light bread, light grain, light crackers, lightly spicy and grassy hops, low bitterness, very light grainy sweetness, extremely clean
Light body with low carbonation, clean and crisp yet also smooth
In a word, this is flawless. It kind of actually seems like Notch is showing off, as this beer is so light and delicate that even the most minor issue would be obvious. Instead, it's so light that it basically drinks itself. Still, I'm not going to give it all 5s despite being "flawless" because part of me would actually like to crank up the flavor here.

Pours a clear pale gold in color with a finger of white head. Aroma is full of complex malt character, bready, crackery, pils malt and some spicy hops. Taste is like the, the malt character is super bready and doughy. The hop character is a mix of spicy and floral. The finish is well balanced, might lean a touch towards bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Super smooth and drinkable. This is a great, flavorful lager that perfectly captures what I love about Notch. It is complex, crazy drinkable, and expertly executed. Who else would make a 4.2% Czech Pale Lager their 10th anniversary beer and have the chops to pull it off?
