Garageland Notch Brewing IPA Cold

Cold IPA, still trying to wrap my head around and understand this style. IPA light, perhaps even more of an APA? Clear, sorta hoppy, bready, golden Kolsh type malt balance with very understated hop presence. Light pine and lime hop flavor.

Crowler filled 8/3/22

So this is an IPA cold fermented with Kölsch yeast? Fuck yeah, that sounds amazing. It feels different for Notch, the kings of Lager, but their Kölsch is damn good as is, so I have high hopes that this one will be good. Let’s crack it open and find out

Pours a lightly hazy pale gold with 3 fingers of soapy white head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing

The nose is surprisingly malt-forward, but the yeast and hop notes still sing over it. I’m picking up on aromas of bready malt, toasted grain, white grape, peppery hops, lime zest, honey, and a touch of grass

Oh wow, upon the first sip you can tell this is a really unique beer. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting candied lime, white grape, floral hops, bready malt, underripe cantaloupe, orange zest, and light peach. The swallow brings notes of underripe cantaloupe, mango juice, bready malt, floral hops, white pepper, lime zest, and light honey

A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a creamy yet refreshing beer. Finishes dry and crisp with a balanced hop bite

Mannnnn, Notch is fucking crazy. To be able to brew world class Lagers and have successful experiments like this is beyond amazing. This is one of my favorites I’ve tried from them so far
