Myth alert! All British beer was exported to India, and IPA was not even the strongest! It also clocked in around 4% ABV for many brewers. However, Brit IPA is definitely hoppy, but not the hops you know today. Instead these hops (Goldings) display more flowery aromas, with candy and herbaceous overtones that transport you to a grassy field in the spring.

Crowler filled 6/12/22
Somehow, this is my first English IPA review on BA. I picked up a crowler of this at Notch yesterday along with a few others. I recall enjoying another British beer they had on tap last time I was there, so I figured this was a no brainer. Let’s get into it
Pours a mostly clear orange gold with 3 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing
This is quite sweet in the nose, but not in an overbearing way, rather it really highlights the malt profile while maintaining a firm hop character. I’m picking up on aromas of biscuity malt, honey, herbal hops, toffee, orange zest, black tea, light bubblegum, and a touch of brown sugar
In taste it’s not quite as expressive, but still enjoyable for what it is. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting bready malt, floral hops, honey, orange zest, and light biscuit. The swallow brings notes of biscuity malt, black tea, herbal hops, toffee, and bread crust
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a a smooth beer. Finishes mostly dry with a firm malt character
This one is very solid. Perhaps a bit of a letdown in taste, but that’s only because the aroma is stellar

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
