Pours a cloudy golden as you would imagine for a Hefeweizen, doesn't have the oranges that a Weihenstephaner may have from time to time but we proceed. There's overripe banana and orange peel on the nose. As you sip it, you get some of what you want from a hefe, but the dry hop character asserts itself and pushes it all aside. It provides kind of a minty menthol type of effect. I wish the dry hop character was a little more subtle. I don't hate this and I even find it interesting, but I don't think this is as good as their hefe and I certainly feel like a more complimentary dry hopping would've been more my speed.

You know, Hefeweizen is not a style I’ve ever seen getting the dry hop treatment. I know that it’s become a thing to do with classic styles, but it seemed like the “obvious” target style of Hefe has largely been ignored in this trend. Clearly not by Notch though. I don’t know how it’ll turn out, but I’m going in with an open mind
Pours a cloudy yellow gold with 2 fingers of soapy white head that quickly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing. Really disappointing for the style honestly
The nose here seems to blend the typical notes of Hefe and Wit together, and it’s pretty good. I’m picking up on aromas of orange zest, wheat bread, overripe banana, peppery hops, honey, lemon zest, and light cantaloupe
In taste, it’s a bit more strange than I had expected, perhaps a touch astringent unfortunately. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting banana, orange zest, clove, wheat bread, peppery hops, and grass. The swallow brings notes of sharp clove, banana, wheat bread, bubblegum, coriander, and orange zest
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a creamy beer. Finishes mostly dry but a touch chalky
This isn’t the worst thing I’ve ever had, but it’s certainly not great. The near-headless appearance is a major letdown for the style, and the taste seems a bit undefined. Oh well
