Another day, another Cold IPA. Or in the case of Notch, a "Kühl IPA". I had their other one, Garageland, a few months back and absolutely loved it, so when I saw they had this one I just had to go for it. It's a Lager yeast in this one instead of a Kölsch yeast, but I'm sure this will be good either way. Let's crack it open and see what it's all about
Pours a clear gold with 3 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
The nose is very clean, leaning into a floral hop vibe that I dig. I'm picking up on aromas of floral hops, green grape, bready malt, orange zest, white pepper, wildflower honey, fresh cut grass, and light papaya
It's more bitter in taste than the aroma led me to believe but it's still enjoyable. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting grassy hops, green grape, underripe cantaloupe, toasted grain, white pepper, orange zest, and light honey. The swallow brings notes of floral hops, fresh cut grass, wildflower honey, bready malt, orange marmalade, green grape, light caramel, and papaya
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a crisp beer. Finishes mostly dry with a firm bitterness, making it highly drinkable
As far as Cold IPAs go, this doesn't touch Garageland, as the Kölsch yeast really did something beautiful there, but this is also very good. Goes down very eas
