A variation of a classic Bock bier, this strong German lager is brewed with beechwood smoked malt, dark Munich malt and specialty roasted malts. We double decoct the mash, and the result of this process along with the malts give our Rauch Bock a dark cooper color with a moderate smoky aroma and flavor that melds with caramel, toffee and toasted bread. Smooth on the palate due to the natural carbonation and long lagering time, this beer has a rich full flavor.

Smoke is somewhat subdued on this one, though still clearly present. The malt backbone is also not as pronounced as some of their other vol beers. Easy to drink with soft pillowing foam. Still a great beer even if it does not get into the realm of greatness that others achieve with this style.
