Appearance:
Midnight black tinged with mahogany, like a dense forest at night. Not much lacing, minimal head that dissipates quickly.

Bouquet:
Sensuous malts, toasted oats, and hearty dark grains.

Feel:
A trifle too bubbly at first, but not for long. After some air time, this stout is a silky, light-bodied beer that's surprisingly refreshing for a stout.

Taste:
Deeply malty without becoming viscous. Imagine if Guinness didn't liquefy a loaf of bread into each bottle of their stouts and this would be the result. Delightfully light bodied.

Overall:
Among the O-Connor beers I've tried, I'd say this one this the best.

Very highly carbonated, poured carefully it gave about an inch of beer, and four inches of head. Aroma is of roast, and a touch of chocolate. The flavor is roasted, with a touch of barley coming through. However, the body is light and the carbonation is over the top. This may be a bad bottle.

This is a review of the 16FL OZ can called "NITRO ODIS" with "6.3% ALC. BY VOL." (as indicated by the can). The side of the can references the nitro stating that "...we've infused this 16oz can with nitrogen..." so it is actually within the can rather than using something like a widget. This is also evident when opening the can as it does not sputter or spray.

The bottom of the can says: "02/15/18 18:47:28 #NITRODIS"

Appearance: The body of the beer is black and it has a short head. The head has a patch-work or calico appearance on top with white and light khaki colored blotches. It has decent retention and no real lacing.

Aroma: It has a light roasted aroma with faint notes of coffee.

Taste: It has a nice roasted flavor with a light bitter finish. There is a touch of earthy character in the middle. At times there is a bit of black licorice or anise which tastes very good. It is a very simple tasting beer that hits the mark.

Mouthfeel: It is light, acceptably thin, and very smooth. It feels very easy to drink and the highlight of the mouthfeel is certainly how smooth it is. There is this light chalky texture at the end which is a bit odd.

Overall: I really enjoy this beer and I would highly recommend it to those who are looking for a quality Dry Irish Stout. The beer is flavorful and easy to drink which makes it very enjoyable. Texture-wise it was very smooth so I feel that it is worth it to try the nitro version in a can. It did feel a bit chalky after each sip but the overall experience wasn't impeded from this. The real winner here is the flavor which is simply good and uncomplicated.

I have had this before in a bottle and now in a can. It is good enough that I would take it either way. If I had to choose between the two I would pick a can.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Darker brown with a thin beige head.

Smell: Malts and coffee.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of malt and coffee.

Overall: Good stout. I would have this one again.

Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a 2 1/2 finger tan head.

Smell is nutty and a little tart with a hint of chocolate.

Taste is generally dry, but there is a faint residual sweetness in the end. More tart even than the aroma. Bitter toasted malt with a bit of dark chocolate in the end.

Medium full in body and drying with moderate syrup and carbonation. Great retention.

A good brew! Well rounded and tasty with great body.

Light passes along the edge of the glass. Ruby brown color. Small head from the bottle pour. No lace.

More dried cocoa than semisweet chocolate. No coffee aromas.

The flavor matches the smell, although I do get some coffee now. Dry finish with a short aftertaste. A bit watery with an elevated carbonation level. This won't compete against its Irish cousins, but it's decent enough for a try if you are in Virginia.
