this has to be the best of the sour brainlesss series so far, although there are a few i have yet to try. this is super impressive, the base beer is amazing, clean for what it is, but more complex on the ferment than just a bacterial souring, and bright and blonde and light for its strength, effervescent in feel, funky enough, and extremely dry. the passion fruit does something special to it, resonating at a similar or rather complimentary tartness, and really bringing a cool modern tropical element to a beer that is otherwise very much old worldy and timeless, a true fusion and the best of both worlds. this is packed with nuance, fresh lemon zest, white tea, chardonnay, new oak, light lambic funk, subtle vanilla, its gorgeous. the effervescent mouthfeel is brilliant, this sparkles on the palate even if it doesnt hold a big head in the glass, and the fast finish makes my mouth water for more after every sip i take. the sourness isnt to much, the passion fruit is natural, real, and perfectly dosed, and overall the level of quality here is through the roof, leagues better than many of its peers, and for me a high water mark in this series so far. the perfect mix of mellowing wood, weird fermentation characteristics, passion fruit essence, and depth. there is some grain to this but it is also very dry to finish. i cant say enough about this one overall, it stood out in a really baller lineup this weekend that included some really special and rare fruited wild beers, this can hang with anything!
