BIG BAD DISCLAIMER: What you are about to drink is the naked depiction of Big Bad Baptist in the way God - I mean the brewers - intended it. Be ready to indulge in au naturel, Bourbon barrel-aged deliciousness, unadulterated by coffee and cacao. Jokes aside, the brewer the brewers have been begging to package this for years. Cheers to one of our favorite Epic beers.

Poured a thin head that quickly dissipated.
The nose smelled roasty and bitter.
The flavor is unadorned barrel-aged with roasty bitterness and notes of bitter chocolate. Some whiskey barrel slat taste comes through too. The flavor profile on Untappd listed thin but it has more body than that.
It's a smooth, silky concoction and finishes without giving away the ABV.

Aged in whiskey barrels, no adjuncts added. Canned 2023? Poured at 56°. One finger of creamy light tan head with rocks; very good cap retention with heavy ring; bands of sticky lacing; black with ruby see-through body; medium plus legs on swirl. Bourbon nose followed by chocolate malt; mild boozy retro nasal. Entry is bourbon followed by oak, chocolate malt, and baker’s chocolate. Silky smooth with a dry wooden barrel tongue coating; medium body but thin for 12.3% abv; light carbonation; minimal mouth warmth. Overall, an old school BBA Imperial Stout with no adjuncts; the finish/linger is dry barrel, which I don’t mind; just chocolate malt base and barrel notes.

Great idea. So many Big Bad Baptist variants out there. Why not deliver one that's unadorned--5-malt attack, 3-hop blend, whiskey barrel aged. No coffee, no cacao, no vanilla, fruit, etc. Just Naked! It's a great beer. Jet black with a pencil thin mocha head. Whiskey barrel nose, nice silky mouthfeel, with a flavor evolution from chocolate to molasses to a gentle (despite the 12.3% abv) whiskey finish. Sometimes simple is simply better.

Thick black pour, small khaki head. Nose says roasted malt, booze, vanilla, some fruit. No junk in this, loved it.
