Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to sparse patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, baker's chocolate, whiskey, dark molasses and light licorice. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt, whiskey, dark and baker's chocolate, molasses and licorice; a touch of vanilla. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. I somehow expected this one to be a bit over the top, but it is actually one of the more nicely balanced of the BBBs I've had. Plenty of the expected and desired chocolate, whiskey barrel and dark malt, but pleasantly integrated. A bit hot, but reasonable for the large ABV. Enjoy that this is a basic, well barreled stout without adjuncts for a change. Well done.

The pour is dark, a bit darker than “stout black” and is capped with a light brown head that left no discernible lacing.
The taste is, well, in between a bourbon barrel aged stout and a whiskey barrel aged stout. Which boggles my mind. Why not go all in on the whiskey barrel? And if they did, get a better whiskey next year.
The feel is nicely viscous, it’s probably best sipped and lends itself to that concept.
OA, probably the best stout I’ve had from these guys in years. I know that isn’t a very high bar, but still. It’s good. Not sweet like bourbon barrel aged.

On draught.
A dark pour with a thin head that settles into a khaki collar that gives up some slippery lacing.
Soft caramelized malt, chocolate, vanilla notes, fairly smooth, a little cloying.
A sweet chocolate liqueur aftertaste.
