This is a one time release in their Elevated series, which I thought was for higher alcohol beers. It's a collaboration with DC Brau, according to their site.
As this one warmed up it got better, I had to change my scores a couple of times. As it was right out the fridge, all I could really taste was malt with a nice hop bite at the end, nothing too different than any other BPA I've had. The warmer it got though, the more favors started coming out. It had a candy like taste to it in the beginning, but nothing nauseatingly strong. That flavor then melted into slight citrus fruits, then a subdued hop finish. The smell was kind of different, had a bubble gum smell to it, again, nothing too strong or fake smelling.
Overall a good offering from Epic. I'm glad a swung by to pick this one up. Apparently, they are only letting folks get 2 bottles max, so get it while you can.

On tap for the 4th Annual LA Beer Week Beer Festival at Union Station in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours a murky orange with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Thin streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, yeast, spices, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with a medium hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some nice aromas and flavors.

This beer isn't going to win any best-of categories, but is a solid IPA. Citrusy in nature overall, it has some hops "pop" to it I the middle if the taste, as well as a dry pull at the end.
The smell I get is sweet caramel, which is present in the taste. However, that taste tends towards a citrus bitterness (grapefruit) that combines with the malt beginning. The feel in the end is a bit metallic, however. This beer did seem to change its character with warmth, as a previous taster noted. Overall, I have to say it's lacking just a little balance, but might be worth a try for those who enjoy a bitter-leaning, but not overpowering IPA.
