750mL bottle, no date, but fairly recent release.
Opens with a rather low hiss for the style. An agressive pour into a tulip rendered about 2 fingers of a tight white head, which fades to sticky lacing within a few minutes. Pours a hazy translucent golden orange.
The first aroma I get is earth and orange peel. The aroma is definitely fruit forward. Orange, tangerine, and grape. Green apple as it warms a bit. There's some underlying earthy yeast or hops. A touch of oak as well.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Fruity wine and citrus peel. Some grape, bubble gum, some phenolics in the aftertaste. The barrel character is stronger is the taste. The final note is a spicy, vanilla barrel note. Stronger than I was expecting, but kind of interesting. It gets a touch sweet as it warms,
Mouthfeel is solid. Good carb in the beer. Good mouthfeel. The beer is dry, but not thin. The phenolics and oak lead to a slight tannic sensation.
Overall I'm rather impressed. I haven't had a saison that was this barrel forward in a while. Definitely some lively oak. It gets a little fruity for my taste in saison as it warms, but I'd buy this again.
