16 oz can stamped 10/16/17. Rated to “style” NE style that is.

It is a turbid, hazy, pineapple colored yellow-gold. Big foamy head that leaves a lot of lacing.

It smells like citra hops. Earthy/musty with grapefruit, red berries or pink fruit, and yeast with a crackery pilsner like malt.

It tastes more like sweet passion fruit and pineapple a tea like bitterness and some green leaves. Lingering grains and yeast. The yeast flavor really starts to drown out the flavor.

Body is soft and pillowy. A little bit of a dry finish.

Pretty solid example of the style.

L: A hazy yellow with one and a half finger of head. Planty, plenty of lacing caked to the glass.

S: Grapefruit, orange peel.

T: Follows nose with some pineapple in there. A real citrus bomb.

F: Moderate carbonation, medium body.

O: Very similar to Money which I had recently. No doubt, Barrier makes some of the best IPAs in NY.

Very hazy light orange with three fingers of long-lasting, gold-tinted head. Thick lacing. Lemon, orange and grass in the nose. Nice, balanced taste with citrusy bitterness and a pastry-like malt backbone. There's a floral quality to it as well, like fresh-cut flowers. Almost chewy feel. Like something you can bite into. Delicious beer. 10/16/17 canned on date.

16oz can from that overpriced shop in Grand Central. Drank from the can.

A: N/A. The can is nice.

S: Pale malt, lime/peppery Citra, slightly pungent (in a good way). Floral and citrusy hop aroma opens with time and warmth.

T: Sweet, slightly bready. Pretty bitter, which works well to offset the too-much-for-my-tastes malt sweetness. Semi-dry finish but the mouthcoating boozy sweetness is more prominent and lasts longer than any dryness.

The limelike Citra flavor is there, but a bit muted. Unfortunately, the slowly ascending temperature doesn't perform the same miracle for the taste as it does the smell, which remains mostly a battle between heavy malt sweetness and big satisfying IBUs, highlighted by some of the more lime/orange flavors of Citra. Good but not great.

M: Fullish bodied. Moderate carbonation. Semi dry but still a bit slick and syrupy.

O: It's no Money. Barrier can make excellent beers, but this one doesn't quite get there.

def not world class but a solid beer for sure. I love citra hops so this is right up my alley but i have to give the nod to all citra everything for other half in a head to head.

Expectedly citrusy - medium-to-pale gold body, thoroughly opaque - head a few fingers high trailed lotsa lace behind... Aromas citric and juicy, flavors in kind - lots of citrus orchard fruits, moderate bitterness, mild sweetness... Feel is soft and plush, medium-weight, amply carbonated... Barrier's Suburb line is very reliable: pick a hop - if you like that hop, you will like its entry in this series. Cheers...
