Served in a 33cL stange glass in the Bull & Castle in Dublin.
A: A rich finger of head atop a murky red body. Dark, but translucent. Very pretty.
S: *Loads* of spice. Cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and more. Pumpkin and tarter fruits (plum) lurk underneath. The smell is incredibly strong, but nice.
T: Christ, but this is beer is spiced. If anything, it's too spicy -- the spices just about overwhelm any other flavour. Still, it's tasty. Baked fruits (cinnamon apple, pumpkin pie) appear at the end of the aftertaste, after the spices have faded away.
M: Enough spice to titillate the most jaded of palates combined with moderate carbonation.
D: A good winter warmer, but way overspiced. There's absolutely no way I could drink a pint of this; my smaller glass took me long enough as it was. Still, recommended, if only for the experience.

On tap at the Bull & Castle, Dublin, April 09...
Poured a deep murky burgundy brown colour. Light tan head poured thick, foamy and meringue like then faded to thick one finger covering. Lines of lacing appeared after almost every mouthful...
Aroma - Lots of winter spices - nutmeg, cinnamon and light ginger, Christmas cake notes, brown sugar, some dark dried fruits, some piney hints, light toasted bread...
Taste - Christmas spices (again some cinnamon, clove, ginger and nutmeg) mixed with chocolate malts, light treacle sweetness, malt loaf, some light liquorice / cough mixture notes, raisin fruitiness, faint trace of citrus peel...
Feel - Fairly smooth with a nice sharpness coming through underneath... medium / full bodied... this is very quaffable for a winter brew...
Overall - An excellent and nicely spiced example of a Winter Warmer.. recommended...

This is a once-off (probably) brew from Franciscan Well to mark 10 years brewing. Released in December 2008, I tasted a couple of half-litres of this on 17.12.08 at the Bull & Castle, Dublin.
Appearence was a dark ruby brew (with some haze) topped with a nice cream coloured head. The aroma of spices were instant and appealing.
The taste was certainly spiced; main cuplrits being cinnamon, clove and some citrus note; a proverbial Christmas pudding mix. Nice carbonation and a non-syrupy mouthfeel made for easy drinking.
This is how I consider a Winter Warmer should be; nicely spiced, good balance without any component being overpowering. Very tasty brew!
Note: I should explain that Phúca (pooka) is a mythical Irish shapechanging fairie/ghost
EDIT: Re-released on tap in the winter of 2010/2011, it seemed a lighter brew
