My 1st review... It comes a amidst my honeymoon to Ireland. Stopped in Cork City and looked up craft beer on BA for Irish craft beer and Franciscan Well Brewery was top choice... Rightfully so! I also tried Rebel Red, Purgatory Pale Ale and Shandon Stout, all with good results. Your in Ireland and near County Cork, make your way to Franciscan Well!
Owner/Head Brewer Shane Long presented me with a bottle and what a treat it was.
Appearance - just how I like it, nice and dark but little light shines through to give a delightful dark brown hue around edges of the glass. Exactly as a proper porter should be!
Smell - the coffee used is compliant to the roasted malts, though I like it real toasty, it works great! The coffee and specialty malts work in harmony.
Taste - real nice coffee taste to go with aroma! Not to robust, as a porter should be and an awesome balance between sweetness of malt grist used. Label says "A Mellow desert porter" and it certainly lives up to the label's description. Some chocolate notes come through with coffee and roasted malts.
Mouth feel - Doesn't coat the tongue and is fantastic for sharing a couple bottles. Light bodied and smooth, easy drinker.
Overall - Very nicely done! Might be one of, if not my favorite, coffee porters I've tried. Light, sweet, balanced and easy drinking.

Magenta-tinged chocolate brown with a half a finger of tawny loose froth.
Oily coffee hits hard but there is brown sugar, peat and fig on the nose.
Treacle hit, some earth and smoke, some red currants, a sweet coffee hit and woody, earth hops.
Coffee candy finish and drying branchy linger.
Medium thinking of light, chewy, round, dead.
Underattuanted - no head, flat and a bit too sweet.
In spite of the extra sugars, this is well and truly a porter - fairly light and no real roast.
Not sure how much the coffee really adds though, and tough to judge with extra sweetness.
Average effort, though laying it down might help.
