Brauerei & Gasthof Drei Kronen "Fest-Märzen"
2,60€ for a ,3l glass at the brauerei
Notes: Clear deep amber body with golden highlights beneath a dense head of off-white foam. It displays excellent head retention and very good lacing with short walls of lace surrounding the glass, and then some long splashes that still remain above from where the initial head receded before a sip was even taken. The aroma is clean, and reveals only lightly caramelish malt. The flavor displays more of that caramelish malt, golden and medium, and a hint of apple, and a light spiciness and herbal character from the hops. A median bitterness balances it, and the gentle spice and herbs remain and linger in the mainly dry finish with a drop of golden caramel. It's medium in body leaning towards medium-light, and smooth across the palate with a seemingly natural, soft carbonation. Superbly balanced! Very nicely done!
