In the beginning was darkness—a seductive darkness where the origin of all things found its meaning. Nigredo is the meeting point where the elements merge; where research becomes harmony, a vital spark, and courage.
It is born from the evolution of a historic BI beer, Negra.
Bottom-fermented, hopped with the methods and quantities typical of a Dark IPA, but using only German hops, especially Hallertauer Mittelfrüh.
This alone doesn't explain the intense and wonderful noble hop aromas this beer releases. In fact, Nigredo has a secret: part of the hops used has been previously roasted, resulting in an absolutely unique aromatic profile. This practice, previously unknown in the brewing world, was born at the Officina Alchemica in Limido Comasco, thanks to the constant curiosity and desire to experiment that drive us.
Nigredo is the alchemists' Black Work, the first phase of the alchemical process. In reality, alchemy was not just proto-chemistry, but also, and above all, a spiritual quest. Thus, Nigredo is the process that leads to the rediscovery of self-knowledge.

Drink directly from the barrel. Hoppy beer with a lot of coffee expecialy in the mouth but well mix with hop and malto sensation. Good mouthfeel long and persistent, but not boring.
Very good.

Copenhagen 11/1 2023. 33 cl bottle from Supermarco, Støbegodsvej, Kbh. SV. Close up of a crude drawing of bird in red on a black background on the label.
Pours opaque dark brown with a big off-white head. Settles as uneven, lumpy layer of foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense and with a sweet and malty odor mingling with a toasted dark scent. Citric notes.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, smooth and lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is citric and bitter with a pleasant sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.
Pleasant sweetness meeting citric bitterness.

Almost totally black, with a beautiful light beige foam.
In the smell, malt, toasted (and toasted hop, too). Pleasant.
At the taste, black malt, toasted, but not too strong, and with a good, hoppy aftertaste, green, and at the same time, toasted.
Very well done, good, and very drinkable.
