Birrificio Italiano “Bibock”
33 cl brown glass bottle coded “Imbotigliatta il 1210.2023 lotto n L 23187 E IL: 25.03.2024”. Sampled on 19/11/23
€5,50 @ Be Hoppy, Madrid, ES
Look: Mostly clear deep amber/light copper colored body with orange highlights beneath a short head of creamy off-white. Slightly better than average head retention but good lacing.
Smell: Clean, gently malty, and subtly fruity.
Taste: Grainy and lightly caramelish malt is accented by a delicate orchard fruitiness and threads of earthy, resinous, and almost peppery/spicy hops. A firm bitterness balances it and brings it to a dry and spicy/earthy finish.
Feel: Medium bodied on the fuller end and gently crisp and then smooth across the palate.
Overall: An interesting twist on the bock style with a touch if hoppy resins and spiciness cutting the sweetness of the malt. Charming, relaxing, and easy to drink even at 6.2% ABV.

750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.2%. Unfiltered and unpasteurised. Recommended serving temperature 8-10 degrees C. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of "dusty" hops. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is fairly dry, with just a hint of caramel, and noticeable German hops (Magnum and Hersbrücker) in the finish.

From 32GP. In Teku glass. After dinner. Malty, with some caramel and nuts. Noble grassy hops very well placed compensating. What stands out is its velvety smooth oily texture.

500ml Draught from Il Santo Bevitore, Venice, Italy (€7.00):
One that I wasn't all that sure about when I was drinking it, it was easy enough to drink & didn't really have any off-flavours but it was also one-dimensional & unexciting with the nose lighter than I'd have liked. The beer is quite an average offering & not one that I'd recommend.

Big fluffy head on top of a hazy amber body.
Smells of sweet german malts with a thick layer of grassy, herbal noble hops. Fantastic
Incredibly smooth with the taste following the nose. A slight bitterness in the back, just enough to cleanse and invite you back for another gulp.
Velvety smooth.
One of the best Italian beers around.

Pour is a hazy ruby caramel with a creay, tight, bubbly light tan head. Nose is a little grainy with a hint of cereal. Lots of hops behind with citrus and pine, rather resinous. Taste is toasted malts with a bit of caramel and brown sugar. Light citrus in back with a very oily hop presence. Body is light, clean, and crisp with a very soft carbonation.
