Birrificio Italiano "Klanbarrique Flos Alba"
€5/,3L alla spina @ Birrificio Italiano, Lurago Marinone, IT on 5 December 2019
Notes: This is a sour, fruited wheat ale that's aged in red wine barrels. The natural flora in the barrel is where it dervies its acidity. It's seasonally brewed with fruit, flowers, or spices. It's a hazy golden in color beneath a short lived head of bright white. Only tiny spots of lace are left behind, and those eventually fade - this is to be expected of sour beers. The aroma is acidic and funky with grass and "barnyard" - I'll assume that both brettanomyces and lactobaccilus are at work here. The flavor is fruity upfront with apple, a lot of pear, and a hint of berry. That's followed by sweetish and grainy malt as well as mild grass and mineral. The bitterness level is quite low but it's not needed as the acidity leads to a dry finish. It lingers with mineral, earth, funk, residual acid, and apple. In the mouth it's medium bodied and smooth with a mild, fine-bubbled carbonation but the acidity does lend it some bite. Overall this is at once a somewhat lighter and refreshing beer while still remaining quite complex.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
