Premium Maris Otter malt for a strong base blended with English roast and lactose sugar. Hopped with traditional English Fuggles hops. A big stout where a dark rich chocolate milk meets with the essence of coffee.

draft beer poured into pint glass by bartender at great river brewery.

Appearance: black bodied beer with a small white to tan colored head.

Smell: Roast and chocolate malts with a touch of sweetness.

Taste: Just as it smells! Starts off with a nice roasty flavor. Has a little bit of semi sweet chocolate note and finishes with just a splash of vanilla.

Mouthfeel: low end of a medium bodied beer with low to moderate carbonation. This stout feels about right...better than average, but I like my stouts thick so I wish it was a little thicker. It does have a really nice creamy mouthfeel that is great.

Overall: This is the base beer for Redband. Its a solid base beer. I enjoyed this one very much!

Had at the taproom attached to the brewery, poured by a smokin' bartender into a good ole 16 oz pint.

Smelled like coffee with too much sugar in it, poured blaaack with a medium khaki head. It's a milk stout with more emphasis on the coffee/stouty flavors than sweetness from the lactose. Wonderful balance of milk chocolate and expresso flavors.

Was told this is the base beer for the Redband Stout, which is also phenomenal.
