On tap at Toranado Seattle on 8.30.14

Red ale with a typical Boneyard hop punch to the face. Maltier version of RPM. No bitterness. Very enjoyable.

32oz growler filled earlier today, poured into the SN IPA Glass.

Pours a clear, amber red with a foamy, off white head. Nice lacing.

Big resiny aroma and taste, caramel, malty backbone.

Medium body, lightly oily, mouth coating feel.

Another great beer from the folks over at Boneyard. Huge hops as is the norm from them, backed with a solid malt backbone to keep things balanced.

While I was hopeful this would be a decent beer, considering the two brewers involved, this surpased my expectations. The beer pours a reddish amber color, but it smells and tastes much more like a high qualify DIPA. There is an interesting cherry rosewater component in the flavor profile, but the hoppy goodness keeps the upper hand thoughout. Also, there's something of a mouthwatering quality to this beeer that is impressive and really nice. Mouthfeel is light and kind of soft, and it seemed as if the carbonation was a bit on the low side with this beer (which actually worked quite well). Alcohol is well integratged into the flasvor profile (frankly, I would never have guessed the abv. was in the 9% range), and so drlinkability is exceptional.

Excellent effort. Very, very impressive.

Absolutely delicious tropical IIPA. Similar in aroma and taste to Hop Venom with a slightly more earthy and malty flavor. This beer is too easy to sip on with a boozy little kick that sneeks up on you stealthily. I hope this becomes a regular rotation at the local beer pub but Boneyard kegs are always finished in one evening so you have to move fast!

Edit: From Boneyard's Instagram account this is a Double IRA that is a collaboration with Alpine Beer Co. ABV: 9% IBU:60

Had this on tap at Imperial Bottle Shop and Tap Room in SE Portland. The bar didn't have any information on this beer other than they name. They didn't even know the ABV but after doing some research I found that it is classified as an IIRA, 9% beer with 60IBUs. I'm not usually a big fan of reds but I am a huge fan of Boneyard (and Alpine Beer Co.) so I gave it a try. It's a tasty beer. For me what stood out the most was the creamy taste and mouthfeel with the red ale notes that weren't overpowering as they usually are for me. It was a nice change of pace from IPAs. If I had more time I would've had another one and written down more notes. Looking forward to seeing this make it's way out more often on tap lists.
