Steve Skalski had been stopping in at Strange for months before he and Tim had a chance for a beer together, but they’ve been fast friends ever since. This beer is the first for a new project, the Silverbrick restaurant next to Guanella Pass brewery, that Tim & Steve are partnering on. 25% wheat, juniper berries, Simcoe hops, and Kviek yeast combine to recreate a walk through a pine forest.

Pours crystal clear golden in color off the tap. This is such an interesting brew, with juniper notes that are subdued and nuanced. They play well with the Simcoe, and whatever the kviek contributes. It’s such an intriguing finish. Really interesting.

Had on tap at the brewery
On arrival a fine bone white one finger head was present, that recedes to a decent cap and leaves nice lacing. Body is a crystal clear golden yellow with active fine carbonation. 4
Aroma is pretty basic, but very clean for the style. Just a slight touch of fruity esters are present with a nice bready but sweet pale grain taking over. Some slight floral notes mingle with the malt to make a sweet honey smell. 3.5
Taste follows the aroma and is once again quite bready. There is a bit of fermentation character in the form of dry white fruit and some floral vegetal notes. Quite a sweet beer. 3.5
Feel is refreshing but not quite crisp. Drinkable, full-bodied
, and almost smooth. On a sunny day this is pretty refreshing but it's basically a farmhouse cream ale. 3.75
Overall I expected a bit more flavor but this yeast fermented super clean and they didn't get all that hoppy with this one. Mostly a grainy beer. 3.5
