seems like everyone is making a tripel these days. this isnt a bad example of the style, but is definitely dumbed down compared to some of the old world examples, and seems a little one dimensional on the whole. clear golden color, looks a little weighty, sweeter, honey colored with a great big white head on it. smells and tastes a little sweet, i get some candy sugar that isnt fermented down, and an herbal, almost coriander flavor from the yeast, which also has bubblegum flavor to it. lots of body but lots of bubbles too. i dont get much wheat or oats, which usually are found in these styles, and they seem missing to me. not a bad beer at all, its just not very dynamic. the alcohol shows though just a little bit, and the finish lingers with the esters from the yeast. good to see strange branching out and doing some belgian styles like this, but its a far cry from compelling. one was enough for me, but that was more to do with the booze than the overall enjoyability. good tripel for new comers to the style and for warm weather, but more grain character and yeast depth are needed for this to be top tier.

Stopped by Strange Brewing today and sampled this one alongside some grilled pizza. Poured a nice golden color with a good white head. Aromas of pineapple, pears and light malt. On the palate, this one was medium bodied, crisp and drinkable, with flavors of Belgian sugars and pineapple.
