Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a clear amber-orange color with a medium thin and foamy white head that dissipates steadily. Large patches of lacing on the glass. Some hops and earthy malt in the nose. Medium-bodied with a fairly even ratio of hops and malt flavor. Light floral notes here and there as well. The finish is sweet malt with a touch of hops lingering in the aftertaste. Average overall.

On tap at Tenaya Creek on 05/06/2008. Served in a standard pint glass.
A - Transparent golden coloration, medium sized head of froth, decent retention, spotted lacing.
S - Odd sour aroma with a cover-up of hop notes, seems to me this would smell pretty bad were it not for the generous hopping.
T - Tastes about the same as it smells. Nicely hopped and bittered, but what little malt backing this is supposed to have is not apparent, instead you get a strange fruity sour body.
M - Light bodied, medium carbonation level, no prevalent aftertastes or residues.
D - My least favorite offering from Tenaya Creek, I like hoppy beers, but this one isn't hopped enough to warrant it's unbalance. In the end, it's lacking too much.

Light clear amber pour. Honey sweet like hop note. Taste is mildly hopped with low bitterness for an APA, much less an IPA. Small bitterness in the finish, and a thin flavor overall. A strange "off" sugary flavor too. Not very good I thought, and wouldn't recommend this one.

Consumed on draft at brewery, 12/30/07.
Clear, medium gold. No lacing. Thin skin of foam. Metallic note in aroma with citrusy hops. Moderately hoppy on initial taste with malt character emerging after. Aftertaste of malt. Weird: reversed the usual order of malt and hop flavors! Regardless, it is well-balanced and smooth.
Not bad and a little unusual to boot.

Presentation: After trips to Barleys, Chicago and Big Dogs Brewpubs it was time to hit the 4th and last of the day, Tenaya Brewpub. The first of two beers was the IPA.
Appearance: Amber colored body that was served a tad chilled. Dirty white head soon broke but remained as a thin broken covering at least.
Nose: Thin and delicate. Nothing when its cold, feint aromas when it warms, sweetish malts and a wispy hop character.
Taste: Mild sweet malts mixed with an even milder hop bitterness that has some floral aspects. One dimensional and very average ..think Greene King IPA and Im there.
Mouthfeel: Below average and watery. Lacks Balls.
Drinkability: English IPA profile and thin body do nothing for me, worked my way through it but one was enough.
Overall: Rather bland offering and a bit of a disappointment to be brutally honest.

Pours a nice amber color with a medium head. Some lacing was produced through the drink. The aroma was great, as the floral and sweet notes were quite prominent. The taste was equally pleasurable, as the hops were strong enough to excite the tongue. The hop and malt level was nicely balanced, and a fruity tone was quitely lurking in the background.
The bitterness lasted a bit on the tongue. Lightly crisp and smooth. Extremely drinkable and my favorite TC ale.

This IPA poured a hazy copper color with off-white foam that left some lace. The smell was modest, but was hoppy. The taste was very nice: full of floral hops with a touch of malt sweetness to balance. The mouthfeel was crisp with hops in the finish. The drinkability was very good, though the bar was serving it much too cold. I should have requested a non-chilled glass.
