A shallow, off-white head collapses to form a frothy ring within moments. The beer is clear and gold with no visible carbonation. Nice patchy islands form fine lacing on a Spieglau IIPA glass.
The aroma begins with earthy caramel and is followed by blunt, wet, pine straw. There is not much to work with here.
Bitterness is light, with sweetness slightly behind. This is a malty beer with light toasted white bread. It is fairly simple, which shows that the flavors are muddy. The finish is mild as it carries the same flavors forward, although in a muted way.
Smooth, with a soft texture, similar to angora. Body is full, while the alcohol is less than expected. Carbonation is light.
This is a simple IPA and probably better appreciated as a starter beer. I think it would work well with casual conversation with colleagues after work.
