Pours black as night with mahogany highlights. Has a creamy tan head.
The nose is mild, but coffee, oat, and raisin can be detected.
Deep dark chocolate notes - sweet and bitter, followed by bitter coffee notes. It has a chewy malt middle with a very creamy mouth feel. Finishes with hints of dark fruit - raisin.
This is a great stout. Malt bomb with bitter roasted malt character and a creamy chewy mouth - a meal in a bottle.

A pint glass, with ksak, at the brewpub.
A: Black, the oatmeal stout doesn't pull any punches. Its darkness stands in sharp contrast to the white head.
S: The nose is sweet, lactic with oatmeal sugars. The stout underlying the oatmeal is chocolatey and nicely roasted, walking the fine line between big stout and sweet stout. This one definitely falls on the sweet side.
T: Mmmm sweet. The oatmeal lends a sweet, milky flavor to the ale. Underneath the sweet oats, a chewy, chocolatey malt base hangs out. The combination of oatmeal and stout creates a milk chocolate flavor that is very easy to drink through. Sweet oats drive the finish, with chocolate popping up occasionally.
M: Sweet and smooth, a stout that really caught me by surprise. Nicely done, Two Goats.

The Oatmeal Stout from Two Goats brewing has a dark, opaque body and a big, creamy brown head. Retention and lacing are both very good.
Fairly hoppy aroma for a stout, with a dry, roasted malt aroma.
This Oatmeal Stout is definitely a dry version of the style, with a low amount of malt sweetness. A little bit of chocolate comes through in the beginning, but even that has a powdery, cocoa taste to it. The rest of the malt profile is a bit grainy with roasted flavors. As the beer warms a bit the dryness becomes less dominating, and the beer becomes a bit more balanced with some sweetness. None of the different malt flavors really dominate. Toward the end of the beer a pretty noticeable hop bitterness builds, adding some fruit flavors along with the bite. Balanced and well-crafted.
The addition of oats did their job here, giving this beer a silky smooth feel and a good body.
This was the first beer I tried from Two Goats and I'm impressed.
