Type: 12-oz. draft
Glass: Clear tulip
From: Alpine Beer Company Pub in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $7.50
Purchased: Jan. 17, 2016
Consumed: Jan. 17, 2016
Misc.: Reviewing as an American Wild Ale
I’d seen this one on Untappd a bunch at the Alpine Pub and finally reviewed/tried it while watching the Steelers lost to the Broncos. Wasn’t expecting much heading into it.
Poured a caramel, auburn color with a finger of dissipated head when I got it. Did not see the color of the head at all. Minimal wet lacing on the sides of the glass. Minimal retention. (Sight - 3.50)
Smelled cinnamon, red apple, sour cherry, nutmeg, purple grapes and raspberry. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted apple, cinnamon, wintry spices, sour cherry, raspberry tart, nutmeg, red grapes and Smarties candy. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, tart finish, (Feel - 4.00)
Really dug this and would love to have it again. Very well done. (Overall - 4.00)

Ummm this is a pretty good muted sweet sour ale. Lots of good white grape pulp sweetness, almost cider like with a muted apple presence. Honeycrisp come to mind. Very good, I can see this being a great introductory sour to the uninitiated.enjoyable and refreshing.

Had on tap in a tulip glass. The color was a dark yellow with a small white head. the mouth feel was a very sharp sour. The malt backing was a light biscuit. The over all flavor was of sour fruit, grapes pineapple grapefruit. As a sour, it was not overpowering. Went well with my salmon dinner.
