In 2019, we embarked on a mission of barrel-aging our first imperial milk stout. After aging more than a year in freshly emptied bourbon casks, we added heavy amounts of granola and maple to this already decadent treat; resulting in the perfect beer to warm you up on a cold winter’s evening.

Look - black and thick with a quickly disappearing head very slight rimming and lacing
Smell - so much maple followed by chocolate caramel granola
Taste - sweet maple granola chocolate vanilla caramel and bourbon
Feel - full medium creamy light carb
Way less than expected with such high abv and lactose
Overall - hits it all. Pretty sweet as expected

Pours golden brown, with slow to moderate carbonation and only a thin head. Aroma is unmistakably bourbon and maple. Vanilla can be detected as well. Taste is full on maple, highly sweet with bourbon also very prominent. Some cinnamon seems to come through as well. Highly tasty.

poured from a 16oz can into a TG MD snifter. pours a dark brown to near black with a thin mocha brown head that fizzle away into nothingness. heavy maple on the nose with a subtle spirit barrel and oak in the distance. taste follows. the granola is an afterthought and it’s got a milk stout sweetness to it that works with the subtle oak bourbon barrels. medium-full mouthfeel with a tingle of soft carbonation in the finish. this is damn tasty. i honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this but i don’t know if anyone does maple quite as well TG.

Thanks to Jeff for this one. 16oz. can into a Founders snifter.

Pours thick but not oily. Very little head but huge, sticky legs. Nose is chocolate, maple syrup, molasses, fudge, vanilla, booze, and sweet cream. Aromatic. Very sweet. Beer opens maple syrup, booze, and chocolate. The slightest touch of soy sauce, with vanilla, and sweet cream in the middle. The chocolate and fudge notes lingering and linger. More maple syrup, molasses, and chocolate at the finish. The flavors are simple here but spot on. Body is full with low carbonation. Thick, oily, and chewy on the palate and goes down warm and rich. Long, lingering aftertaste.

Really enjoyable though I'm not sure I really get much "granola".

This stout pours a shade of brown that's *very* close to black; minimal carbonation and no head. The aroma is a mix of oak barrel, maple, caramel, and a slight heat from the alcohol. The taste has many of the smells as flavor elements as well, with a hint of sweetness from the lactose. Everything comes together and melds in a rich, syrupy manner. The mouthfeel is thick, coating the tongue and throat. Finishes sweet and with a noticeable warming. Very enjoyable overall.

Can purchased from the brewery in early June 2021.
