Purchased at the Kernel Brewery in London recently, bottle-conditioned in a 500ml brown bottle; bottled on 29/10/2013, BB 29/02/2014, served lightly-chilled in a straight imperial pint glass.
A: pours a light amber to dark golden hue with haze, coming with a thin off-white head settling fast to a thin cap, on top of very quiet carbonation.
S: the fruity notes as of dried mango slices, passion fruits, guava, gooseberrie abound, on top of a lightly sweet pale malt backbone. Given a good swirl, a more focused flow of ripe melon and nectar-ish sour-sweetness emerges from underneath.
T: lightly effervescent, the foretaste is just lightly fruity (with pretty much identical elements as experienced on the nose) and moderately sweet on the gristy pale malts, ensued closely by lychee-shell-ish aromatic & tannic undertones, leading towards a long, lightly tannic bitter yet surprisingly clean finish with a mildly earthy touch.
M&O: lightly effervescent although the bottle-conditioning is not quite complete, medium-bodied, this is all in all a flavoursome bitter ale with a clean palate and benefiting from a nice execution of late-hopping & bittering with aromatic hops. Pretty decent and quaffable.
