A 330ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2017 (bottled Oct 2016), so a little out of date. Given to me as a Christmas present. As the name implies, this beer is hopped with Mandarina Bavaria and Centennial.
A: Poured into a snifter. Bottle conditioned. A rich golden-amber colour with plentiful fine sediment and moderate carbonation. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer.
S: Aroma of light fruity hops with hints of grass/hay, noble hops, mild citrus, faint gooseberries, earthy yeast and pale malt. Pleasant but understated by Kernel's standards.
T: Tastes of grassy hops and yeast, with notes of hay, noble hops, floral hints, subtle citrus, faint gooseberries, earthy yeast and light malt. Dry, with a crisp bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with light carbonation and decent body. Aftertaste of grassy hops and earthy yeast.
O: Nice - though the hop varieties have a more restrained character than most Kernel brews. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are grassy and tinged with fruity notes. Body is OK. Solidly crafted and goes down easily - worth sampling.
