Frederiksberg 14/9 2022. 40 cl from tap at Tap 21, H. C. Ørstedsvej, Frb. C. Pours opaque dark brown with a small beige head. Stable. Settles as 0,3 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Massive lacing.

Aroma is medium intense but gets stronger as the beer warms up. Sweet roasted malts mingling with prominent citric scents. Toffee and caramel. Touch of dark chocolate. Citrus and grapefruit.

Medium strong carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is fairly intense with a medium strong sweetness by a slightly stronger bitterness with a touch of citrus. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry.

Like a Dark IPA with some serious gravity in the malty department.

3d review. Discovered at The Queen's Ale in Lisbon. Smokey IPA Porters and Stouts appeal to me. Notes at Cask temp.
a) The full pour fits porter was lasting dark khaki head and lace over near black body.
s) Smell is powerfully smokey and bitter, woody hoppy.
t) Chocolate and more smoke enters the taste profile, the fruit has turned to a wood-fired jam.
f) Also jammy, smokey, woody.
o) I love the tension in the beer, which offers more wood smoke, and reductions of fruit than many. A study in sustained contrasts. Super last beer, and dessert beer.

On tap at Cardinal Pub, Stavanger. Black colour, tan head. Nice roasty aroma, notes of mild coffee and dark chocolate. Nice roasty flavour too, mild coffee and dark chocolate again, distinct bittering hops, piney. Good beer, but lacks the expected fruity notes from these 3 hop varieties.

330ml bottle.
L: Black with two fingers of tan foam that reduces to thick cap.
S: Smoke, coffee and bacon.
T: Verging on rauchbier level of smokiness. Bitter. Not getting much, if any, hop flavour.
F: Medium body with a slightly thin mouthfeel and a very dry, astringent finish.
O: Dry as a bone, extra smoky, high ABV porter. Not sure about this one…
