500 mL bottle pours a rich orange-amber color with a considerable head of light khaki-colored head that slowly recedes to a thick ring. Smells richly of sweet caramel and toasty malts. Complex toasty-caramel malt flavor with notable hints of fruit, honey, and spice. Medium body with minimal bitterness, sudsy mouthfeel, and a moderate sweetness that continues a bit into the aftertaste but doesn't overpower. Long finish with nice hints of honey really peeking in.
Has to be one of the best märzens I've had, up there with Paulaner's offering. I've tried a ton in this style, and this might honestly be the truly ideal example of the sweeter end of this style. Perfectly crafted and balanced.

Orange amber body with a cream colored head, sporadic lacing. Smell and taste stars malt and toasty breadiness in an old world way. Smell has complimentary caramel and vague amber tones. Taste has caramel, minor cereal tones, earth, and then a dash of orange zest on the finish. Crisp and clean, dries out slightly, very smooth and sneaky full in the medium body

Bottle from John’s poured into stein. Outstanding head. Approachable but not boring märzen flavor.

Aroma is German malts/hops and lager yeast. The flavor is fruit, German malts/grains/lager yeast and a slightly bitter noble hop/mostly smooth finish.

Bottled 3/3/25; drank 7/6/25 @ the Yarchives.
Murky dark orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice, noisy eggshell-colored head which quickly dissipated; minimal lacing remained.
Cereal grain & faint caramel notes in the nose.
Sticky medium mouthfeel.
Cereal grain & mild caramel flavors up front; with a mild orange peel bite on the finish.
Like the other Giesinger beer I've had, this is fine but a bit on the boring side. Not one I'll seek out again.

500ml bottle. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy lacing. It smelled of roasted malt, toffee, caramel and floral notes. Sweet caramel, toffee and roasted malt and a sharp bitterness.

At Stehausschank near Viktualienmarkt. A proper Giesinger pub. A solid Märzen. Quite sweet and malty. Rich and roasty like the style should be. Not complex, just a sweet amber beer. A bit cloying. Not the finest but a good example.

De Labirratorium. En copa de hefe de Bavaria. Fiesta de la espuma. A pesar del aspecto y de la acidez que recibe en nariz al abrirla, nada de ello se traslada a la boca y allí resulta una birra maltosa y refrescante y bebible

Pours a hazy amber with soft head.
Smell is bready and atad yeasty with notes of crackers, rye, citrus, citrus peel and a hint of roasted malt.
Taste is rich and bready with a solid bitterness. Notes of rye, citrus, toast and some nuttiness with a hint of yeast.
Mouthfeel is medium, creamy and well carbonated.
Overall, a very nice Märzen, would be outstanding without the yeasty hint.

A bit of a surprise because with Gieginger's traditional label I expected another traditional Bavarian beer.
While it kind of tastes that way, I went on their website and they do all this cool stuff in a campy sort of way for the millennial crowd. So, Giesinger is an experimenter in a traditional town. Some good OA hugs for that.
Gieginger's Marzen is pretty close to the traditional masters. Looks, Smells and Tastes almost indistinguishable from the best. If it a had a few fewer bubbles, my mouth would relax. Good start.

Giesinger Bräu "Märzen"
3,70€/,5L vom fass at the brewery on 20.09.2017
Notes: 5.7% abv. Hazy amber body with golden highlights beneath a creamy head of off-white. Excellent head retention and very good lacing. The aroma displays a sweetish, grainy malt with just a hint of hops in the background and the flavor follows. It's not a caramelish version, but more golden. Medium bodied with a soft, median carbonation that becomes airy in the mouth as it warms. Very easy to drink.
