Hazy dark amber brown in the pint shaker. Just a smidgen of foam. It all flattens out after some sipping. Some wheaty aroma with the Hefeweizen spicy notes.
Sweet at first sip, accentuated by the flat mouthfeel. some dark malty flavors along with a tangy fruitiness. Some of the clove-accented German esters. Just a faint bitterness. The sweet wheat flavor is appealing but it fades. Brewer calls this a Roggenbier, but the rye is buried under the wheaty malt. At least it doesn't contribute the hoped-for grainy perkiness.
This beer has some promise, but as delivered it's a sweet, flat mess. On tap at Toma Sol on West Washington.
