Had never been a huge fan of Hess beers, but thought I’d give this one I thought. Was kind of intrigued that each batch is different. This one (#64) read “Batch 64 Nugget and Meridian hops make this Solis recipe pleasantly herbal and bitter.” Not sure I know Meridian hops.

Poured a medium yellow clear color with two fingers of frothy white head. Bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent spiderweb lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled lots of citrus notes up front, followed by tropical. Got tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple and mango. If those flavors are Meridian, count me in. Not getting any Nugget. (Smell - 4.50)

Taste was not nearly as good as the nose. Got Nugget for sure on the taste. Would say Citra too if I hadn’t read the back. Also tangerine, bitter citrus peel, mango rind, peach, cedar, leafy vegetables, herbal and grass. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium-to-light body. Oily texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.50)

This was better than I thought I would be. Smell was fantastic, but taste wasn’t as good. Would still like to have some other batches. (Overall - 3.75)
