Solis (Sunset/West Coast) is our dynamic IPA brand—every batch is a unique San Diego-style IPA—always 7.5% ABV, hop-forward, bone-dry, light-colored and sure to satisfy craft fans and hop heads. Masterfully combining 2-row and other malts, along with new hops or unique hop combinations, Solis allows us to keep our creative juices flowing and your mouth watering. Make sure you ask your server which batch they are serving and try them all! Can drinkers—look on the bottom of your can for a package date and batch number.
Batch 89: 2 row malts. Kettle hopped with Eureka!, Centennial, Cluster, and Crystal. We used Centennial, Cluster, and Crystal in the whirlpool. We finished it off with a heavy dry hopping of Centennial, Cluster, and Crystal.

Originally didn’t care for Mike Hess (the brewery, not the man), but coming around more lately. Specifically this Solis series where they rotate the hops, mainly collaborations with other brewers. This one was described online as, “2 row malts. Kettle hopped with Eureka, Centennial, Cluster and Crystal. We used Centennial, Cluster and Crystal in the whirlpool. We finished it off with a heavy dry hopping of Centennial, Cluster, and Crystal.” Not that familiar with Cluster or Crystal, and only semi-familiar with Eureka.
Poured a gold clear color with two fingers of frothy white head. Lots of fast moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. World-class spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Ha. Funny on the smell because the first thing I smelled was Centennial and had to double-check that it was a hop in this beer. Also got lime, pine, white grapefruit, trash, white wine, grass and herbal. Not as good from the can, which is rare for me. More grainy and earthy from the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted about as good as the nose. Got Centennial, lime, woody pine, white wine, white grapefruit, grass, herbal, green leaf and lingering peppery spice. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Boozy finish. (Feel - 3.50)
A pretty good IPA overall. Still not sure of the Cluster and Crystal, but very good. (Overall - 3.75)
