One of my favorite sites for a bar... in a central train station. I get double treated by watching both the bar/restaurant activity and the come and go of urban life and its transit. (Vancouver's Waterfront station also is one of North America's most beautiful stations... and I should know as I study stations more seriously than beer... although beer seems to be catching up!)

Upscale restaurant for a mid-sized downtown station. The bar seems to have it all: 18+ taps, plus a bottle list that I didn't even look at. So Selection was plenty good, particularly since I was hunting local brewers. I had 7 new brewers in two visits. Most were interesting to good, although a flight of four usually confuses my buds. Less good was the service, but still attentive. I ate only once and the quinoa burger was fine with fries. Between that and the beer, I did my duty and walked it off in a vigorous urban tour. Don't miss this bar when you visit this exquisite city.

Large Earl's like venue (not a fan) in the Waterfront Station. However it's nice to see a decent mixed use space. Didn't eat, or check out the bottle list, but why bother with the excellent tap list on hand:

*Elysian Immortal Ale
*Elysian Jasmine Ale
*Central City ESB
*Crannog Backhand Stout
*Crannog Bogtrotter Brown Ale
*North Coast Rasputin RIS
*Driftwood Farmhand
*Driftwood White Bark
*and about 5 others

Everything tried was in good shape, well priced and the service was attentive.

A sample conversation:
What can I get you?
~Bottle of Bud.
Here you go. That'll be $5.50 please
~Thanks - guy gives her the money proceeds to put back the bottle in the time it takes for her to bring back the change.
Bartender returns - Here's your change
~Thanks again. (Guy's 12 year old daughter walks in). Let's go Amy, we're going to be late.
And out they go - total transaction time: less than a minute.

Bar + bus station = thirsty time deficit patrons.

Summary: A trendy eatery and beer bar in Downtown Vancouver with a decent selection of BC drafts and good food.

Enter from inside the Waterfront Station, just across from Steamworks Brewery (and owned by the same people). Upscale/Trendy vibe with high ceilings, overstuffed couches and chairs along with dining tables, higher bar stools at tables, and outdoor seating along Cordova. Very different from its sister location. Maybe a bit pretentious, but very comfortable inside. Ate dinner there with a group of colleagues. Service was good. I had a burger, which was tasty. Beer selection includes both Steamworks and a nice cross section of (mostly) BC and US drafts. Almost all were good or very good quality. Prices were in line with what you'd find elsewhere in Vancouver. Would I go back? Definitely. Convenient location and wide enough beer selection to make it worth a second trip.
