Nice off white head settles into a decent lacing above a rich honey golden colored beer.

Nice balance between citrus, floral, and piney hops aroma.

Dry citrus to piney hops taste.

Dry aftertaste with a slight hops lingering about on the fun to drink IPA.

Well worth the drive over from Silverton.

a much better than average ipa. pours a glowing honey color with a lacey white head. smells well balanced with that classic dry hopped bitterness. flavor is less bitter than the nose, and some english style malt characteristics comes through. the hops in this one are not as intense as many american ipas, but they work well in this very light bodied concoction. mellow carbonation and and a pleasant crisp aftertaste. one of the two beers i got to have at the ouray brewery, and both were very good. the atmosphere of this place tucked into the mountains was amazing, and probably accounted for a lot of my enjoyment. hit this place up if you pass through!

Had a pint of this and then brought a growler home after visiting Ouray this weekend.

A - The beer pours a deep color color with a nice 1.5 finger white bubbly head. Good retention with some lacing. I noticed that the beer I poured from the growler had little head retention and lacing, perhaps from the many mountain passes the beer traveled over in bringing it home? That said this review is based on the pint at the brewery.

S - The beer doesn't have a lot of hop character on the nose and is dominated by a caramel malty sweetness. Hints of citrus and earthy hops but very minimal.

T - Similar to the nose in that the hops do not dominate. I would have thought this more to be an APA than an AIPA. The mild bitterness does blend well with the malty caramel sweetness. Again, hints of citrus and earthy hop character but the hops don't bring a lot of character.

M - Medium bodied with decent carbonation. Finishes dry.

O - Not really what I was expecting. It's an unusual AIPA that isn't so hop forward and aggressive as seems to be the norm for the style. That said it is a pleasant drink and easy to put down. I enjoyed both the pint and the growler, even though the growler lost some carbonation. I would drink again easily.
