I find ESBs to vary about as widely within the style as any type of beer. This one was no exception. The nose was quite fruity (with hints of caramel), where others are more toasty. The taste was quite good and enveloping, catching me across the tongue. A little rounded and grainy; bread & cinnamon with a splash of syrup.

Not sure why this beer is retired, I had it on tap this afternoon at the brewery/beer pub. Nice cooper colored body, with nice lacing for even a 12-ounce sample. Not necessarily an ESB, but definitely has some bitter to go along. An interesting mix in the flavor department, a pretty healthy dose of hops up front, followed by a nice fruity aftertaste.
A nice brew from a decent brewpub. Poor wait staff who were not very knowledgeable about the beer the restaurant offered.

I have to be fair to this beer. It just went on line the day I drank it. It was under carbonated, so it was hard to get a good review of it. The color was somewhat off, the taste was a little flat. I will have to revisit this offering at my next visit to get a true sense of what it really tastes like.
