Hollow Point Coffee Porter (4.5% ETOH): Tasted 6-14-2014
Appearance- Very dark brown, almost black, and cloudy as is to be expected in a porter. Head is a nice light tan colored and frothy.
Aroma- Dark malt and bitter brewing hops nose. Strong coffee with a hint of chocolate; barely perceptible hint of peach or apricot (I think?).
Taste- Strong taste of fresh-ground espresso and dark crystal malt. Slight taste of hoppy bitterness along with effervescence of carbonation and alcohol. Little taste of hops (which is mostly an aroma, here).
Mouthfeel- Light in mouth- sharpness of carbonation and alcohol keeps a thin feel on palate. Strong taste of coffee increases after a few moments on tongue. Good bite on tongue.
I thought this was a very nice porter although this isn't my style of beer/ale. This one should be a big seller in craft beer market. If you like porters, you'll love this.
My wife thought it was a wonderful porter - she loved it. This is her kind of beer.
