No date on the can, but I'd say its a pretty safe bet this was a St. Patrick's Day seasonal. Anyway...
Pours a deep copper red so that checks out. Sports several fingers of fluffy tan head that takes its sweet time settling, eventually thinning to a sheen with decent lacing. Looks a lot better than the Irish red I made earlier this year. Smells about the same. Malt-forward as you'd expect, but kinda muted. Label says they used Irish malts and yeast. I wasn't aware that that was a thing. Tastes muted as well, but what's there is pleasant enough. Yeast seemingly fights for your attention as much as the malt which isn't something I'm used to in a red ale. It's got a fresh brown bread vibe. Not much in the way of caramel which is a little disappointing. Southern tier of medium-bodied and that suits matters just fine. Finishes a little flat, though. Not much in the way of lingering flavors. I suppose this could be a few weeks past peak freshness so I'm not going to hate on it, but it didn't exactly bowl me over either. Is fine.
